FAQs

What is the curriculum?

Since day one, Kehillah has provided a balance of general and Judaic curriculum. We continue to provide developmentally appropriate education through play and multi-sensory experiences. The curriculum is tailored to each child to foster social and intellectual growth, in combination with fine and gross motor skills. We are planning a more blended and integrated curriculum where learning happens across all skill sets.

What will it mean to be part of Temple Israel?

Temple Israel has been part of Southern Westchester’s community since 1908. It is part of our foundation and mission to educate and foster core values for our youngest generation. The family/school connection is a critical component of our Kehillah program, as is the relationship with our Kehillah families and our greater community. We encourage you to have a voice in the education of your children as well as in the community of Temple Israel.

What happens if my child attends Camp Pinebrook for the summer?

We have many Kehillah children attending Camp Pinebrook this summer. Your child will not lose their spot in Kehillah if they attend Camp Pinebrook.

Can I visit my child at the center anytime I’d like to?

Yes, Kehillah Early School for Learning has an open door policy.  You would be encouraged to visit your child anytime. Please contact administration in advance.

How does the Kehillah School for Early Learning ensure cleanliness?

  • Both staff and children are frequently washing hands throughout the day, including when entering and leaving classrooms.
  • Food preparation surfaces, eating utensils, tables, highchairs, computer keyboards, mixed use surfaces, changing tables, and potties are all sanitized after each use by staff wearing gloves. Floors, diaper pails, countertops, sinks, fountains, door and cabinet handles, and plastic toys are all sanitized daily. Certain high-touch toys such as play-doh are not currently in use.
  • Sanitizing measures will also be applied to our playground equipment.
